Born on December 18, 1972, in Nahant, Massachusetts, Jason Mantzoukas is of Greek descent. He was raised in a close-knit family, with his parents William and Cynthia Mantzoukas instilling in him a love for his cultural heritage. Mantzoukas has often expressed pride in his Greek roots, and this connection to his heritage has influenced his comedic style and performances. 

Mantzoukas attended Swampscott High School, where he excelled both academically and in extracurricular activities. He was known for his musical talents, particularly as a skilled drummer. Mantzoukas was a member of the marching band and displayed leadership as the president of the band. His passion for music continued into college, where he pursued jazz drumming and played in various bands. 

After completing high school, Mantzoukas went on to study at Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vermont. He majored in religion and developed a keen interest in improvisational comedy during his time at college. He joined the Otter Nonsense Players, an improv group at Middlebury College, where he honed his comedic skills and discovered his knack for creating offbeat characters. This experience laid the foundation for his future career in comedy. 

Early Career and Rise to Prominence 

Following his college graduation in 1995, Mantzoukas was awarded a prestigious Watson Fellowship. This fellowship allowed him to travel extensively throughout North Africa and the Middle East, studying ethnomusicology and immersing himself in the local cultures. His experiences abroad shaped his perspective and provided him with a wealth of inspiration for his comedic work. 

Upon returning to the United States, Mantzoukas relocated to New York City. He became involved with the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater (UCB), a renowned comedy institution that has nurtured the talents of many successful comedians. Mantzoukas trained at the UCB and became a member of the improv team Mother, further refining his comedic skills and developing his unique style. 

Mantzoukas' career gained momentum as he started to make waves in the comedy scene. He began performing regularly at the UCB and became known for his improvisational prowess and ability to create memorable and eccentric characters. His comedic talent and infectious energy caught the attention of industry professionals, leading to opportunities in film, television, and podcasts. 

Breakthrough Roles in Film and Television 

Mantzoukas' breakthrough came with his role as Rafi in the FX comedy series "The League." Portraying the unpredictable and outrageous Rafi, Mantzoukas showcased his comedic range and became a fan favorite. His performance on the show garnered critical acclaim and solidified his reputation as a versatile and talented comedian. 

In addition to "The League," Mantzoukas has had recurring roles in several popular television series created by Michael Schur. He played Dennis Feinstein in "Parks and Recreation," Adrian Pimento in "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," and Derek Hoffstetler in "The Good Place." These roles allowed him to display his comedic timing and ability to bring eccentric characters to life. 

Mantzoukas' filmography is equally impressive, with notable appearances in films such as "The Dictator," "Sleeping with Other People," and "John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum." The Success of "How Did This Get Made?" Podcast 

In addition to his work in film and television, Mantzoukas is one-third of the hosting team behind the popular podcast "How Did This Get Made?" Alongside Paul Scheer and June Diane Raphael, Mantzoukas dissects and hilariously critiques some of the worst movies ever made. The podcast has gained a dedicated following and has become a platform for Mantzoukas to showcase his comedic insights and sharp wit. 

Recent Work on "Invincible"

One of Mantzoukas' most recent projects is his voice acting role in the hit animated series "Invincible." He brings the character Rex Splode to life, infusing the character with his signature energy and comedic timing.
